On December 11, 2018, Cam and I joined with an amazing local charity, Rebel With a Cause, created by Sam Shakura and Emily Elizabeth, to curate a special evening of fundraising, in honour of Kelowna's Karis Society. This amazing organization works with women in Kelowna, BC, to support them during their addictions and mental health challenges.
Held at the beautifully renovated Okanagan Room, donated by Farifield Inn Marriott, the evening centered around a collective mediation that took our guests through an enchanted winter forest and into a beautiful and equally enchanting Sound Journey with our Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls. For many of our guests, this was the first time they had ever experienced a Sound Journey and for some, the first time they had ever acquainted themselves with any form of meditation. What an absolute honour it was for us to witness this 'first' for so many! Stepping outside their comfort zone to gift themselves a 'pause + reset' during a particularly busy time of year, while gifting the women working with Karis Society the opportunity to once again, experience an art therapy meditation with Rebel With a Cause. Close to $900 was raised by these beautiful individuals, through their ticket purchase and raffle ticket purchases for an Embody Mala, donated from my collection. Guests also brought small items for a 'Feel Good Bank', to give the women of Karis something special for the holidays. The spirit of giving was definitely in the air! The funds raised will be used to purchase the art supplies and a beautiful, healthful lunch for the art therapy meditation with Rebel With a Cause. Cam and I will also join in by sharing the experience of Sound Journey with the women.
Our deepest heartfelt gratitude goes to our guests, Fairfield Inn Marriott, our volunteers, and Rebel With a Cause for coming together to support Karis Society and the profoundly impactful work they are doing with the women at risk in our community. Together, we are building a stronger community and in turn, a stronger humanity.
